Whitney Mongé is a Nashville-based Americana Soul singer-songwriter and guitarist whose smoky, soulful vocals and poignant lyrics reflect a journey rooted in raw authenticity. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, she honed her craft as a street performer in Seattle, where her powerful voice and heartfelt storytelling forged deep connections with audiences. Her signature style—an evocative blend of blues, rock, and indie folk—draws comparisons to artists like Tracy Chapman, Richie Havens, and Brittany Howard. ​A dedicated performer, Mongé has toured internationally, released four independent records, and collaborated with the Seattle Symphony. She was featured in the award-winning Find Your Way: A Busker’s Documentary, performed with Black Opry at the 2023 Newport Folk Festival, and won the 2025 Cayamo Soundcheck Contest. Now based in Nashville, she’s currently touring across the U.S. while writing and recording her debut full-length album, expected in 2026. ​In 2024, Mongé released the single What Would Love Do Now, a soulful reflection on compassion and change. That same spirit of growth continues to guide her path as she shares her music with new audiences across the country.

Wild Roots is an independent, women-led band based in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Headed by Julia Peach and Olivia Moore, the group released their debut album, Wild Roots Rising, in 2021 and have since continued to tour, playing stages and festivals across the country. Olivia and Julia have co-created music for nearly a decade and collaborate in many areas of life; in addition to being soul sisters, the two share a deep passion for sustainable living and environmental justice. While Wild Roots’ music celebrates the joy of friendship and community, it also seeks to hold those in power accountable and question the status quo. Julia and Olivia harness their political passions to shed light on issues of social injustice and the degradation of the natural world.

Best known for their complex harmonies, Wild Roots draws inspiration from other powerful women musicians, including MaMuse, Rising Appalachia, The Staves, Fiona Apple, and Mountain Man. They prefer not to confine themselves to a singular genre, instead learning from a wide variety of influences to encourage creative play and musical experimentation. Both Julia and Olivia have a background in classical music but appreciate community oriented folk music traditions. Wild Roots songs transport listeners to an evening around the campfire or an intimate gathering with friends in a meadow. They believe performance should create an emotional catharsis for musicians and listeners alike and seek to create art that both challenges them as musicians and makes fans want to sing along.   

With a nod to the past and a wink to the future from behind their sunglasses, Baltimore's The Dirty Grass Players have been pushing the leading edge of bluegrass music since 2015. As convincing on a 10-minute jam as they are on a 2-minute classic, they find an intersection between progress and tradition that in one set could inspire Flatt & Scruggs to reunite and then break up all over again. With harmonies to please any purist, compositions fresh enough to have been written tomorrow, and improvisations that fearlessly stride to the end of every limb, this band can play as clean as anybody but isn't afraid to get a little dirty.

After starting with jams between founders Ben Kolakowski (guitar) and Ryan Rogers (mandolin), DGP quickly made a name in the Baltimore scene before hitting the road. Since then, they've toured the US and Europe and made appearances at festivals like Grey Fox, DelFest, Dark Star Jubilee, ROMP, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, and the Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival. With Connor Murray on bass since 2021 and the addition of Sam Guthridge on banjo in 2024, a reinvigorated lineup is on the road and coming your way.

With two albums and a slew of singles, their latest full-length, “Shiny Side Up”, was produced by Travelin' McCoury's guitarist Cody Kilby and reveals a band probing the possibilities of bluegrass with dark themes and adventurous playing. In its praise of the album, Bluegrass Unlimited says, “Shiny Side Up validates the arrival of the Dirty Grass Players onto the scene and shows bluegrass is in good hands going forward." Their first single with the new lineup, a cover of “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” by Jimi Hendrix, reimagines the rock classic with a driving bluegrass arrangement which makes a compelling argument that sometimes looking to the roots is the most inventive approach a band can take.

Daniel Donato is coming back to GVL, so naturally, we have to throw another preparty. Darby Wilcox will be providing the tunes from 6-8pm.  Stage Coach is less than ten minutes away, so you'll have plenty of time to make it to the show.  Banh GVL will be here to serve up some amazing Banh Mi to get you fueled up for the show. 

 Darby Wilcox, whose powerful and commanding presence leaves her audiences captivated, charmed, and fascinated. Angela has toured the U.S., both solo and duo with Brandon, as well as with her crowd-pleasing band The Beguilers. She has played numerous concert series and music festivals, including Six String Concerts (Columbus, OH), Shakori Hills, Fall for Greenville, NC Apple Festival, Strawberry Festival, Albino Skunk Bluegrass Festival and more. She has opened for or appeared with The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Jim Lauderdale, Scott Miller, The Steel Wheels, Sarah Jarosz, Elizabeth Cook, Lucinda Williams, Charlie Louvin, Robbie Fulks, Tracy Grammer, Mary Gauthier, Ray Price (at the Birchmere), Suzy Bogguss, Ellis Paul, Tom Brosseau, Eilen Jewell, Radney Foster, Will Kimbrough, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Lori McKenna.

Leaf Peeper will be available on tap starting when we open at noon.  Our Heady Grilled Cheese Food Trailer will transform into  Heady Brats & Tots starting at 1:00pm.  

The Bear Creek String Bandits will be performing live from 2-5pm.  The Bear Creek String Bandits are an Asheville based bluegrass trio with a rich musical history. Their song catalog encompasses many diverse musical influences but maintains a focus on the old traditional string band style. Dynamic vocals and blazing solos highlight their live performances. 

Scott Low is a Southern songwriter with a bluesman's heart, a folk singer’s storytelling, and a river guide’s patience. His most recent albums—Struttin’ Round Town (2025) and The Appalachian Blues (2024)—dig deep into the soul of the rural South, blending gritty guitar work, slow-burn vocals, and road-worn lyricism. From swaggering blues-rock grooves to stripped-down acoustic confessionals, these records trace a life shaped by heartbreak, resilience, and the crooked backroads of Appalachia.

Pickety Split is a lively new take on traditional bluegrass, led by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Cooper Eades.  From the bluegrass standards to jamgrass-infused originals, Pickety Split is eager to bring their perspective into the acoustic music realm.

Taproom favorite Taylor Corum is back for a special Sunday Show! His high energy performances blend roots country, classic and progressive bluegrass, and showcase Taylors booming vocals. Come on by for some Pickin' and Grinnin' on a Sunday afternoon.

We are so very excited to welcome Spare Parts Bluegrass back to the brewery! Hailing from Walhalla, SC Spare Parts Bluegrass is all about foot stomping barn burners combined with delicate harmonies. Tunes will get started around 6:30pm

Second Hand News are a Greenville based trio consisting of a saxophone, guitar and percussion. Their style mixes elements of bluegrass, jazz, jam bands, and classic rock. Second Hand News shows are always high energy and a great time!!

They’re coming back… The 65 North Pickers are headed back to Greenville, and if you were at our anniversary party back in April, you already know what kind of night this is going to be. They absolutely blew the roof off the place, and we’ve been looking for an excuse to bring them back ever since. 

The 65 North Pickers are a bluegrass quartet that fuses the drive of traditional bluegrass with the exploratory spirit of jam band improvisation. Fronted by mandolin player Jake, banjoist Nate, guitarist Quinton, and bassist Taliana, this quartet is renowned for their lightning-fast picking and impressive improvisation. Their high-energy performances feature incredible original compositions that merge bluegrass with the nostalgic vibes of classic festival music, where the essence of the Grateful Dead meets the psychedelic flair of Jimi Hendrix. With listeners dancing out of their chairs and captivated by the music, 65 North Pickers create an unforgettable experience that keeps fans coming back for more.

Geoffrey Wood is an American singer-songwriter and musician based in Atlanta. The son of two musicians, Geoffrey grew up in a musical household and received a trumpet on his 5th birthday. He began teaching himself guitar in middle school and writing songs of his own shortly thereafter. After studying trumpet in college he began working as a freelance musician and educator.

In demand as a performer, composer and arranger he plays and writes for numerous groups in styles ranging from classical to jazz, funk and rock. While he was successfully creating music for other projects he found himself with a collection of material heavily influenced by some of the artists he grew up loving; Bob Dylan, The Band and Wilco. With no existing projects ready to cover that music, Geoffrey assembled a new band featuring Kelly McCarty on Bass, Rhett Huffman on Keys, Matt ‘Pistol’ Stoessel on Pedal Steel and Colin Agnew on Drums.  Over three days in January of 2023 his first solo album, Thank You was recorded at La Gazza Studio in Madison, GA. Agnew also produced, engineered and mixed the record. Named in tribute to the people and places that inspired his music, Thank You is a musical expression of gratitude for the journey that he’s had so far.

Singer/Songwriter Clay Johnson is back at the taproom. Clay blends Americana/Folk and Rock with thoughtful lyrics and southern flavor.

West End Strings is back for some Sunday afternoon live music and good vibes!! The fiddle and guitar duo will perform a special set of Jerry Garcia Band, Grateful Dead, and Old & In The Way.

They’ve shared the stage with bluegrass legends like Béla Fleck, Del McCoury, and The Infamous Stringdusters, and have bagged three consecutive nominations for Arkansas CMA Bluegrass Band of the Year! Currently touring their brand-new sophomore album, Toolbox, this four-piece powerhouse blends ripping guitar, driving clawhammer banjo, and dark jazz-inspired melodies into a boundary-pushing sound that is entirely their own. The Heady Grilled Cheese Food Truck will be serving up the melty goodness. Come get down with us! 🍻

Wilder Things Than Us brings a sound that’s rooted in Appalachian music but refuses to stay inside the lines.

Formed in 2012(formerly known as My Girl, My Whiskey, and Me) and now based in Upstate South Carolina, George and Kelly have developed their own blend of progressive bluegrass, folk rock, jazz, blues, punk, and whatever else finds its way into the mix. One fan affectionately dubbed their sound “Zappalachian” — and it stuck.

In 2017, they released their debut album, In The Ground, before hitting the road for a year-long tour that took them through all 50 states.

Expect original songs, unexpected covers, plenty of picking, and a sound where no genre is off limits.

Swamp Rats takes intricate clawhammer banjo and blends it with a driving punk rhythm fronted by gritty & soothing harmonizing vocals. Some have said the music sounds like a type of haunted that makes them happy. Folk with an edge is what most people say about Florida's "Phantom" folk band Swamp Rats.

To celebrate the fact that one of our favorite bands, Greensky Bluegrass, is coming to GVL - we have decided to throw the  extremely unofficial Preparty.  Mike Oregano will be bringing his one man band to the taproom for the occasion.   And since the show is less than ten minutes away, you'll have some time to hang before heading to the show.  

Truly a unique act unlike anything yet, Mike Oregano has fully commercialized both the aesthetic and sonic details of the "One Man Band" concept. Performing in a unique Reggae/Hip Hop/Jazz style, he is sure to turn heads wherever he is rockin’!

Mike uses his feet to hit the drums as well as an array of fully intuitive pedal boards complete with: loopers, bass splits, synthesizer sounds, etc. He records the rhythm section (guitar and bass) on the spot, and layers over it with drums, solos, fills, etc. all while singing, rapping, or talk boxing, and soloing on his guitar simultaneously.

Coyote Rodeo is an Asheville, North Carolina–based experimental bluegrass band built around the songwriting of John Colby Elswick (guitar/banjo), Chad Brown (mandolin) and Connor Kozlosky (Guitar). Featuring Jackson Weldon on dobro and pedal steel and Brad Poplin on bass, the band blends deep-rooted tradition with expansive arrangements, improvisation, and modern edge.
